Offshore software development for US startups
Most US founders who find us have the same problem: a prototype that looks fine in a demo and falls over once real users arrive. That was OpenInterview.me, a US hiring startup that hired us on Upwork. Their build couldn't take payments safely, so we rebuilt it into the platform that's live today, with Stripe, social login, interview scheduling and an AI assistant that turns a resume into a profile. We're in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Our day ends before yours starts, so we talk in your morning and you log on to finished work.
How the time difference works
Pakistan runs on PKT (UTC+5) all year. We use the first hour of your day for a call, agree what matters, and build while you sleep.
| Your city | We're ahead by | Your 9am is our | Our 6pm is your |
|---|---|---|---|
| New York, Boston, Miami | 10 hours (9 in summer) | 7pm (6pm) | 8am (9am) |
| Chicago, Dallas, Austin | 11 hours (10 in summer) | 8pm (7pm) | 7am (8am) |
| Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle | 13 hours (12 in summer) | 10pm (9pm) | 5am (6am) |
Pakistan doesn't change its clocks, so the gap shrinks by an hour when US clocks go forward in March.
What US teams usually hire us for
Most projects start as one of these. The written plan says which, and what it will cost, before any code is written.
- Prototype rescueA no-code build or an agency's half-finished app, rebuilt so it can take real users and real money. OpenInterview.me started here.
- MVP from scratchA first version you can sell, usually live in a few weeks, with a weekly demo so you can steer it.
- AI featuresLangChain and OpenAI work that does a real job, like turning resumes into profiles, instead of a chat box bolted on.
- Billing that doesn't double-chargeStripe subscriptions and one-off payments with idempotent webhooks, so a retry never charges anyone twice.
Contracts, code and data
The parts founders ask about on the first call.
- NDA first. Sign yours before you share the idea; we're used to it.
- You own everything. Code, database and docs are assigned to your company and live in your GitHub and cloud accounts from day one.
- Two ways to pay. Through Upwork, which holds each milestone in escrow, or by direct invoice in US dollars.
- Health data. We've built hospital software with audit trails and role-based access. For a US health product we build to HIPAA's technical safeguards and work on de-identified test data unless a BAA is in place.
- SOC 2. We aren't SOC 2 audited ourselves. If your customers ask for it, we build to the controls your auditor checks: access control, logging and reviewed changes.
A US startup, prototype to production
OpenInterview.me came to us on Upwork with a prototype that couldn't safely take payments. It's live now, and the founder said this about working with us:
We came to Eaquirs with a prototype that couldn't safely take payments or handle real users. They rebuilt it into a proper production platform with Stripe, social login, interview scheduling and an AI assistant that turns resumes into profiles. Communication was clear the whole way, deadlines were met, and I'd happily hire them again.
What it costs
These are the same ranges our cost estimator gives, in US dollars, for a typical first version:
| What you're building | Typical range (USD) | Time to first version |
|---|---|---|
| SaaS MVP | $12,500 to $20,500 | 6 to 9 weeks |
| AI Chatbot | $12,000 to $19,500 | 6 to 9 weeks |
| Mobile App | $13,000 to $21,000 | 6 to 9 weeks |
| Recruitment Platform | $14,500 to $23,500 | 6 to 9 weeks |
| Marketplace App | $19,500 to $31,500 | 8 to 11 weeks |
Your exact number comes in a written plan after a call. The plan is yours to keep even if you build with someone else.
Common questions
Why hire a team in Pakistan instead of one in the US?
Mostly cost, without dropping the bar. Senior engineers review every change, AI agents take the repetitive work, and you can check our ranges in the cost estimator before you talk to anyone. If a US agency's quote doesn't fit your runway, ours usually does.
Won't the time difference slow things down?
It tends to speed things up. We agree priorities on a call at the start of your day, then build while you're offline, so most mornings you have something new to review. Urgent questions get answered in your morning, which is our evening.
Can you take over code another developer wrote?
Yes, and it's a big part of what we do. We read the codebase first, tell you plainly what's worth keeping, then fix or rebuild. OpenInterview.me was a rescue.
How do we pay you?
Either through Upwork, with each milestone held in escrow until you approve it, or by direct invoice in US dollars. Most clients pay per milestone.
Do you sign NDAs and assign the IP?
Yes to both. The NDA comes before you share details, and the contract assigns the code, database and documentation to your company.
Are you HIPAA or SOC 2 certified?
There's no official HIPAA certification for anyone; compliance sits with the covered business, and we build the technical safeguards it needs. We aren't SOC 2 audited, but we can build your product to the controls an auditor checks.
