Software development for UK businesses, built in Pakistan

Usman Khalid lives in the UK and owns a trust eye hospital in Chishtian, South Punjab. His old vendor had stopped fixing their software, and he had about a month before his flight back. We built him a replacement in six weeks, moved the hospital onto it on site without closing for a single day, and years later rebuilt it for the web as EHMS. Now he opens it from Britain and sees where every rupee of zakat and charity money went. That's most of what UK clients want from us: software they can trust when they aren't in the room.

Your morning is our afternoon

Pakistan is four or five hours ahead of London, so your whole morning overlaps our working day. Questions get answered live, the same day.

SeasonYour hours (London)Our hours (Pakistan)
Winter (GMT)9am to 1pm2pm to 6pm
Summer (BST)9am to 2pm1pm to 6pm

Pakistan stays on UTC+5 all year, so the overlap grows by an hour when the UK moves to BST in late March.

Who we work with in the UK

Two kinds of client, and the first call is different for each.

  • UK startups and SMEsProduct builds, AI features and apps another supplier left half-finished, from a senior team that costs less than a London agency.
  • Owners with a business in PakistanHospitals, schools, housing schemes and family firms in Pakistan run by owners who live in the UK. You get dashboards you can check from home, and we go on site in Pakistan when staff need training.
  • Trusts and charitiesZakat, sadaqah and donation funds kept on separate ledgers, so trustees in the UK can see exactly how money was spent.

UK GDPR from the first sprint

Data protection is easier to build in than to bolt on, so it goes into the plan.

  • Data stays in the UK. Production runs in a UK cloud region, such as AWS London or Azure UK South, or with the provider you already use.
  • Transfers to Pakistan are covered. Pakistan has no UK adequacy decision, so we work on test or anonymised data by default. If our engineers need live personal data, we sign the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) with you first.
  • We're your processor. We sign a data processing agreement under Article 28 before work starts.
  • Rights requests take minutes. Export or delete a person's data from the admin panel, so a subject access request isn't a day of digging.
  • Every change is logged. Who changed what, and when, the same audit trail EHMS keeps for the hospital.

A UK owner, a hospital in Pakistan

The trust eye hospital has run on our software for years, first the desktop system and now EHMS on the web. Usman, in his own words:

I live in the UK, so my visits to the hospital are short. Our old vendor wouldn't update the software or fix anything when it broke, and I had about a month before my flight back. A friend who runs his housing schemes on Safdar's software sent him to us. He came to Chishtian, sat with our reception and accounts staff for days, and asked for six weeks. Six weeks later the hospital was running on his system, and we didn't close for a single day. We used it for years. When we wanted it on the web, we didn't look anywhere else. What matters most to me is that I can open it from the UK and see exactly where our zakat and charity money has gone.

Common questions

Can you work under UK GDPR?

Yes. We act as your processor under a data processing agreement, host personal data in the UK, and work on test or anonymised data by default. When live data access is unavoidable we sign the IDTA, because Pakistan has no UK adequacy decision.

I live in the UK but my business is in Pakistan. Can you handle both ends?

That's exactly how we work with Usman. Calls and approvals happen with you in the UK; training and the move to the new system happen on site in Pakistan with your staff. You check progress, and later the numbers, from home.

How much of the working day do we share?

All of your morning. London's 9am is 2pm here in winter and 1pm in summer, and we work until 6pm Pakistan time, so there are four to five live hours every weekday.

Can the software be in Urdu as well as English?

Yes. Staff in Pakistan often prefer Urdu, while owners and accountants in the UK want English, so we build both into one system. Turner 10, our real estate ERP, runs in English, Urdu and Arabic.

How do payments work?

We quote in US dollars and invoice per milestone, so you pay as working software arrives rather than all up front.

What happens after launch?

We stay on for support and improvements. The trust eye hospital ran our first system for years and came back to us for the web version.
